Dalby to Cecil Plains

Dalby to Cecil Plains = 46km
Cummulative total = 6603km

It was a nice short day again today and I was glad to get out of Dalby which is a bit town and the caravan park was really sterile. We were the only unpowered there and we were right in amongst the caravans so they could all just stare at us!!!
Left nice and early and had a tailwind to Cecil Plains which is south of Dalby

If you look at the windsock you can see that it is blowing in the direction of the road. In the back ground are flat fields of either lucerne, barley or grain and below are fields that were cotton.

the fields that are black tend to be cotton and since the season has finished these fields have been plowed and are getting ready for next season. Besides there are heaps of cotton alongside the road so that is also how you know the fields are cotton ones!
While being blown to Cecil Plains we had to pull over to the nearest side road as Kouta was throwing himself from side to side in the trailer which means that he needs to off load a load!!! So we pull over to the road below (don't worry Kouta wasn't going to the toilet when I took this!)

but guess what the name of this road is? go on guess!!! I had to ask Neil how he as an Australian pronounces it as I sometimes pronounce place names wrong - like Scone (pronounced 'cone' with an 's' whereas I pronounce it like the baked item you eat!)
Anyway the photo below is no joke!

As we got to Cecil Plains we pulled over at the road junction and a guy in his car pulled up in the middle of the road to chat to us! after he left we turned and this is what we saw about 10m to the left of us!

Normally we are good at checking the area before we pull over but unfortunately we don't normally extend our peripheral vision to 10m where this snake was - I guess we will have to look further a field now! We are not sure if it is alive or dead as there were a few flies hanging around it but we didn't stay long enough to find out.
We decided not to stay at the free Apex park as it was not that great so we went to the caravan park as it only costs us $7 to camp in unpowered and the laundry machine is free (we paid $4 in Dalby yesterday!) ... hindsight is a wonderful thing!

this is our site with the amenities in the background and below is all the powered sites which are generally occupied by the workers that are here from April to August for the cotton season as there is a cotton gin in town. So this would be a full caravan park during those months!

forecasting rain tonight and have just checked the radar and it is currently over Roma so it will be here tonight so we are not sure if we will get stuck here tomorrow which is okay since it is cheap to camp and the town has a small general store.
